…but I’ve started cutting and pounding impressions into vegetable tanned cowhide again. After months of feeling the itch, and with a little encouragement from my better half, I bought a pile of supplies and kits and whipped out some things to sell at a table at the Celtic Faire that our church, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church of Tacoma, put on last month.
That’s yours truly, standing proudly behind his wares. About half of that stuff is showpieces to get people interested in custom work. The other half, the wallets, checkbooks, and hair clips in the center of the table, were ready for sale. I managed to sell enough things to pay back the cost for the table and a little more. I still have most of it left over, but I at least gave out several cards to those interested in the possibility of some custom work.
I’m really not sure what my plans are, or what I’m expecting out of this. Will I be making stuff for family gifts again? Will I be taking custom orders from people around the country again? Will I be making stock to hopefully sell at faires? I have no idea. It might very well fizzle out again.
Suffice it to say that at this point in time, I’ve got a small variety of things that are ready for sale, a stack of wallet and checkbook kits ready to be made, as well as leather enough to make a few totally custom items.
Flux Productions Custom Leather is once again open for business, so tell your friends… or have me make something as a gift for them. 🙂
