DELUXE in BLUE: This was my first custom tagger paint job. I found this spray paint from Krylon called FUSION that promised to bond tightly with plastic without the need for priming. Since I had already made some heavy modifications to a Deluxe LTTO tagger, I decided that a new paint job couldn't hurt. For this one, I masked off all the areas that I did not want paint on, especially the screen and button panel. I was able to mask off individual things for most of the tagger, but I couldn't mask the individual buttons on the control panel, so I just masked the whole thing off. It turned out well enough, with only some minor areas with paint that I didn't want. The button panel is really ugly, though. I also did matching scope and thunder pack pieces. The FUSION paint, although dry to the touch in minutes, requires a full week to completely cure. I couldn't wait, and put on the scope soon after it was dry, scraping some of the paint off in that connection. You can't see it, so it's not a big deal, though.
DRONE in NICKEL: For my second paint job, I decided to paint an empty shell to avoid the hassle of masking. I had a couple empty Drone shells from my Starbase Mods, and so took one of those and painted it with Nickel color FUSION paint. It was nice not to have to mask things off, and there was no overspray anywhere, of course. It was a minor challenge to then transplant another Drone's complete inner workings into this painted shell, but as I had the experience of removing the guts from a Drone already, not a huge deal. The hardest part is getting the barrel assembly off, since it has to come completely apart to get at the screw that holds the base down. This time, I waited a full week for the paint to cure before playing or messing with it much.
