Those who have played many games with the Virtual Scope on their tagger know what this is for. If you swing your tagger around quickly to take aim behind you, or otherwise cause enough force to move it, the Virtual Scope will slowly work its way off of the sight rail and even fall off and get lost if you're not paying attention. Not only did I not want this happening with my own tagger, I didn't want it happening to all the Virtual Scopes mounted to the gear I'll be letting people borrow for ALTC games. I wanted the fastening to be temporary so that I could remove the scopes if needed, but I also wanted them to be difficult to remove, and impossible to just fall off. Screwing them on was the only solution I could think of.
As you can see, on the Drones, I drove a sheet metal screw through the side of the scope clip. Yes, I drilled pilot holes first, as driving such screws in unprepared would likely crack the shell. For the Deluxes, I drove the same kind of screw, plus a washer, though the front of the sight rail. I could not do that on the Drones, because the sensor dome is directly in the way. There's no way to drill a pilot hole, or drive the screw in, so I had to go in on the side. I prefer the front fastener because it doesn't tweak the scope like putting in a screw from the side does. For the Drones, there's a very slight tilt to the left because of the angles of the plastic and the way the scope clip works. I don't think it interferes with aiming at all, but it bothers me a little anyway. So... if you're running a club and are supplying gear with scopes, or you just want to make sure your scope doesn't go missing at some point, I highly recommend this very simple mod. The only reason I call it a mod is because it requires putting holes in the case of the tagger. And yes, I checked to make sure I didn't put them where electronics are. Just keep close to the edge of the sight rail, and you'll be fine. For the Drones, you should go in on the left side.
