What's that you see? Yep, a hole. You could put a hole there with a drill if you're careful, but I prefer to open up the Scope and use my nibblers to take a bite out of each half in that location. Why put a hole there in the first place? To shed light on the subject, of course! The subject, in this case, is the tagger's LCD display which is impossible to see in the dark. With a hole on the underside of the Scope, the green LED inside the housing can shine down upon the LCD screen of the tagger. The main problem is diffusion. That's why there's a piece of magic tape over the hole. The tape diffuses the light slightly so that the light coming through is less of a spot, and more the LCD panel is visible in the dark. This might need to be tweaked a bit to diffuse the light even more, maybe with a dab of hot glue in the hole or something, I don't know. Anyway, it's really easy to put the hole there and provide some light for your LCD panel when playing a night game. That said, if it's so dark you can't see the LCD panel to read it, it's probably also too dark to see who you're playing against, or the ground you're walking on. ;-)
