Well, the Fourth of July Festival in Auburn is days in the past, and I have a few days before the Pacific Days Festival this Saturday. For noobs to this blog, I hosted free Lazer Tag games at the former, and will be doing the same at the latter. Read the rest of this entry »
As you know, I’ll be running Laser Tag games under the ALTC banner for Auburn’s 4th of July Festival again this year. I’ll have a new location, and expect considerably more kids playing this year than last year. Apparently that’s not enough for me. Apparently I want to put myself through that more than once in a year period. Read the rest of this entry »
I will again be providing free laser tag games at the Auburn Parks 4th of July Festival this year. Fortunately for me, most of the preparations needed were done last year, and do not need to be done again. There are a few things I need to think about and try to work out, though. The soreness has more or less subsided, I’m still fighting a chest cold that my wife passed on to me over the weekend, aided by the colder weather of Saturday, but darn it if I’m not gonna write up a review of the event! Read the rest of this entry »
Yep! I’ve got another one coming up soon. REAL soon. This weekend, starting Friday, actually. Interestingly enough, this one was planned MUCH farther in advance than the July 4th thing I blogged about previously. I’m hosting a gathering of laser tag lovers from the greater pacific northwest at Fort Worden aptly named “Fort Worden Laser Tag,” aka FWLT. This one had to be planned a considerable amount of time in advance since the batteries at Fort Worden are used for many things, and the dorm that we reserved is also a highly desirable thing for large groups to make use of. For FWLT, we reserved Battery Tolles on Friday, Battery Benson on Saturday (Battery Tolles was in use for a wedding on Saturday), and a wing in one of the dorms for those who plan to make a weekend of it.

Yesterday…The 4th of July Festival at the park where I hosted free lazer tag games… Yesterday was fantastic. I am deeply thankful for all my wonderful helpers, not the least of which being my wife, Ingrid, and my co-host, Tod. Along with long-time club member and a good friend, Clay, and his family, we had the entire area set up an hour before the deadline, barely 30 minutes after we got started at 9. Since we all knew what to do, we got right to it, and it all went up smoothly and quickly. We ended up sitting around chatting for over an hour, waiting for the actual event to begin at 11am. 🙂 Read the rest of this entry »
The rehearsal for the July 4th Festival activity that we held last Saturday went well. Though there were less people than I had hoped for, wanting greater than 24 people playing tag to test out the line-up and flow, we still learned a few things and came up with some ideas for improvement for the 4th. By that virtue, the day was a success! For the deets, read the whole post. For those who would rather just go straight to the photo gallery, here you go:

This coming Saturday, the 16th, I’ll be running an ALTC game that’s not like the others. For this game, I’ll be running a full rehearsal of what I’ll be doing for the City of Auburn 4th of July Festival. Read the rest of this entry »
With all this talk of the barriers I’m working on, I haven’t posted a single picture of my own. Well, I’m finally done making them all, and have already put them to good use. First, I set most of them up in the back yard so that Nikolas and his friends could play some laser tag as a b-day party activity. Then, I put some out at my ALTC game last Saturday for a couple Zone games. Read the rest of this entry »
Voiceover: “And this week in Lazer Tag news….”
I did some more play testing of the barriers. Ok, at this point, it’s not really testing so much as playing. 🙂 Read the rest of this entry »
