In another shining example of Peter Pan Syndrome… *cough*cough* I mean… someone who is young at heart, I have purchased a pair of Heelys for myself, and am practicing “heeling” in them as the opportunity arises. I am doing this in preparation for AFTER Christmas, because both the boys will be getting a pair under the tree this year. Read the rest of this entry »
I am tremendously fortunate to be in the position I am in. I have a loving wife who has a proper career that is able to support my wonderful family. This has allowed me to be a Stay At Home Dad for the last 12+ years. I’ve been able to work, more or less, when I want to and in positions that allow me to continue being at home for our kids. Well, all things come to an end. Some sooner than others, and sometimes sooner than you wanted them to. Such is the case for the company known as FlashTalk Communications, LLC. After over 4 years with the company, my job will cease to exist when the company does, possibly sooner if the company officially exists much into December.

The soreness has more or less subsided, I’m still fighting a chest cold that my wife passed on to me over the weekend, aided by the colder weather of Saturday, but darn it if I’m not gonna write up a review of the event! Read the rest of this entry »
Yep! I’ve got another one coming up soon. REAL soon. This weekend, starting Friday, actually. Interestingly enough, this one was planned MUCH farther in advance than the July 4th thing I blogged about previously. I’m hosting a gathering of laser tag lovers from the greater pacific northwest at Fort Worden aptly named “Fort Worden Laser Tag,” aka FWLT. This one had to be planned a considerable amount of time in advance since the batteries at Fort Worden are used for many things, and the dorm that we reserved is also a highly desirable thing for large groups to make use of. We knew it might happen when we signed Nikolas up for Soccer earlier this summer. Apparently the people in this town, maybe people in general, are of a “let someone else do it” life philosophy. It happened once before when Alex was in the same soccer league (Boys grade 2-3 with Parks and Rec). “What” is that there wasn’t a volunteer coach, and no parents of the team would volunteer either. Knowing this might/would happen in advance, I gave Ingrid permission to volunteer me if, and only if, it was obvious that no one else would step up. It had to be a last resort, ‘cus I already had Laser Tag games scheduled on alternate Saturdays through November, and Soccer games are always late mornings to early afternoons on Saturdays. Earlier this month, the greater Gaub family met for their yearly mini-reunion slash vacation for a week. We usually try a new place within driving distance each year, but we all liked a place called the Leland Lake House we stayed at two years ago, that we broke with tradition and stayed in the same place twice. It’s possible we’ll stay there again in the future. Read the rest of this entry »

… have you seen the movie yet? As a long time fan, I have a variety of mixed emotions. If you’ve already seen it, read on for my opinions if you’re curious. If you haven’t seen it, then I can heartily recommend it as an overall great summer action movie. Go see it, then come back and compare your thoughts with mine, and leave me a comment if you’re in the mood. Read the rest of this entry »
