SeaPUG Meeting, July, 2001
After starting a few minutes late, we got introductions out of the way, and jumped right into our first presentation. Art Spencer gave a very interesting and informative presentation on the Presenter To Go module for HandSpring Visors made by Margi Systems. Art showed us all the quality of the presentations by using his module to do his presentation! He told us about the software for both the Palm and the desktop, and its strengths as well as limitations. One of the coolest features he showed off was the new Mirror application which pipes the screen of the Visor out through the module, allowing the user to display any Palm application on a TV or projector. Sure, there were some bugs, but they were all solved with a little tweaking of the Mirror program settings. It was great to see this module in action and in person, and we thank Art for showing it to us.
Following Art's presentation, we took a short break, then fielded questions during a "Helping Palms" session. This allowed time for Hal to set up software for his presentation. As soon as he was ready, Hal Mueller gave us a great presentation on Palm programming. Not only did he run through a set of PowerPoint slides, but he also did some actual programming for us using a temporary install of CodeWarrior. It was cool to see a program actually being written, and the interation that takes place between the programming tools and the Palm emulator.
When Hal was finished, we took care of everyone's favorite part, GIVEAWAYS! We had door prizes from the following sponsors...
We also had a meeting on Saturday this month, but given that there were no scheduled presentations, it wasn't a meeting so much as a chat session with me and a couple other members. We had some fun seeing who could get a higher score in the timed game of Bejeweled, and talked about all sorts of Palm and computer related things.
