It was love at first sight! I had been surfing the web for cases and accessories for my Palm Vx and came across www.ebcases.com. I have been looking for a wallet that I could fit my Palm Vx and my money, credit cards and license. The Slipper V convertible was the answer to all of my needs. The Slipper V Convertible comes in two parts:
- The Slipper V
- A form fitting case that is made of high quality leather and uses no Velcro or snaps. E&B Case manufactures the case in two styles. One with a quality button release belt clip and one without. Desiring not to look to "geeky" I chose the one without. The case opens vertically with an extended leather tab that extends form the end of the cover flap underneath the bottom of the case and fits into a leather strip sewn into the back. This is important in that the tab covers the hot sync cut out on the bottom of the Palm. The formfitting Slipper case is fitted to perfection with cut outs for removing the V styli, the on button, a hole in the back that matches the reset button and a cut out on the bottom for hot syncing ability. Yes, you can hot sync this right in the formfitting case. I had read that there were some complications in the first one or two times of use. Personally, it was minimal and nothing that pushing the palm down into the cradle didn't fix. Note: I also have the travel hot sync cable for my notebook and I do have to remove my PalmVx from the case to hot sync. This isn't a big issue for me in that it comes out fairly easily with no complications. The Palms slips into the case from the top in front of the cover flap. This is important in that it can't fall out and is fully protected when closed. The front cover flap carries the form fitting shape and has a small EB signature mounted on top. The flap is very sturdy and stiff and holds its shape well. There is one slot on the inside of the cover that could be used for a credit card, business card, etc… This is not something that I have needed to use in that everything I carry fits into the wallet that slips into the case. At the top on the inside of the case there is a sturdy metal bar that in durably sewn into the case. This bar is the key to how the wallet fits in the Slipper V.
- The convertible is a wallet.
- It is a slim bi-fold wallet that is made of the same high-grade leather as the case. On the outside of the folded end there is a small loop sewn in the leather that slips on to the hinge bar on the inside of the Slipper case. This makes the wallet not only useful as a significant part of the Slipper V but as a stand-alone as well. This slipper hinge concept is great! Note: when the wallet is slipped into the case it is secure and I have had no fear of losing it. It flips open with the front cover and conveniently exposes the Palm for use. On the inside of the wallet there are multiple slots for credit cards and a slot with a clear window for a license. Because of the nature of the wallet there are only two credit card slots. I am able to put two or three cards in each slot comfortably. Note: the slots are made for the cards to insert from the inside of the fold so that they cannot fall out when the wallet is closed. On the right side of the wallet (right side when it is in the case) is a side slot for money.
I used the wallet both in and out of the case. Overall I am more than pleased with this combination and haven't seen anything out there come close to this. One other observation is that since my Palm is form fitting and the styli cut outs are on both sides I am able to make use of both styli slots.
